OUR 3-YEAR PUPPY HEALTH GUARANTEE

At Bernedoodles & Co., every puppy we place comes with a 3-year health guarantee against congenital health issues. This guarantee reflects our commitment to responsible, health-tested breeding and gives our families peace of mind from the day they bring their puppy home.

Effective date: This health guarantee applies to all puppies placed on or after August 3, 2026.

WHAT THE GUARANTEE COVERS

Our 3-year guarantee covers congenital health issues only — conditions that are present at birth due to genetic or developmental factors, even if they aren’t detectable until later in the puppy’s life. This is the standard most reputable breeders stand behind, because congenital conditions are the one category of health outcome tied directly to breeding decisions.

WHAT THE GUARANTEE DOES NOT COVERWHAT THE GUARANTEE DOES NOT COVER

The guarantee does not cover illness, injury, parasites, infections, or any condition caused by environment, accident, diet, or lack of care after the puppy leaves our home. It also does not cover normal variations in growth, temperament, or size.

Health testing costs and veterinary bills are not reimbursed under any circumstances, for any reason. We encourage every family to establish care with a veterinarian right away and to keep up with routine wellness visits, but those costs are the owner’s responsibility from day one.

Spay/neuter requirement: Puppies must be spayed or neutered by 12 months of age. If your puppy is not altered by their first birthday, the health guarantee is void.

IF A CONGENITAL ISSUE IS DIAGNOSED

If your puppy is diagnosed with a covered congenital condition within the 3-year guarantee period (confirmed by a licensed veterinarian), we do not offer a cash refund. Instead, we will provide a replacement puppy, valued up to the amount you originally paid for your puppy, for a $400 deposit.

This approach lets us stand behind our puppies in a real, meaningful way while keeping our program sustainable — so we can keep testing, keep improving our breeding program, and keep placing healthy puppies with families for years to come.

OUR LIFETIME TAKE-BACK PROMISE

No matter the reason, if you are ever unable to keep a dog you adopted from us — at any point in that dog’s life — we will always take them back. This is a lifetime commitment, not limited to the 3-year guarantee period. We never want one of our dogs to end up anywhere other than back with us or in a loving home we’ve helped find.

MICROCHIPPING AND OUR SHELTER POLICY

Every puppy we place is microchipped before going home, and we actively monitor for any of our dogs showing up in a shelter or rescue. Because we’ve made it clear that we will always take a dog back, there is never a reason for one of our dogs to end up in a shelter.

If we discover that a dog we bred has been surrendered to a shelter instead of being returned to us, a $5,000 fine applies. We take this seriously because our dogs’ safety and well-being don’t end at the sale — they’re part of our responsibility for life.

WHY WE DO THIS

A health guarantee is only meaningful when it’s paired with real accountability — both to the puppy and to the family who trusts us with their new companion. Our 3-year congenital health guarantee, our lifetime take-back promise, and our microchip tracking policy all work together to make sure every puppy we bring into the world is protected, traceable, and never without a home to come back to.
